Summary:
Rather than wandering the nine continents upholding justice by yourself, it is better to work with the government to bring about prosperity together (1). Don’t talk about etiquette and shamelessness with me! I’m forever a shou. My name is Dian Qian Huan (2).
Translator’s Notes:
(1) This can be separated into two parts to explain:
1. 剑寒九洲; it’s not an idiom (but after searching on baidu), but it seems to refer to martial practitioners in a jianghu setting; a lone swordsman wandering from place to place upholding justice and ridding evil; 剑寒 (note that 剑 is a type of weaponry, not just limited to swords but most commonly used to refer to swords) shows that the blade is sharp, and therefore the wielder is very strong; 九洲’s direct translation is the nine continents (it originates from the Xia Dynasty but let's not go into that lol)
2. 一受封疆; I’m not too sure about how to translate this but if you ignore the fact that 受 (shou) refers to the bottom person in BL novels and focus on the 封疆 (provincial borders or provincial governor), then it means to serve the country or make achievements for the country
(2) Aha… this one’s a bit weird cos Dian Qian Huan (殿前欢) is actually the author’s name.. I’m not too sure what they mean here… (maybe there’ll be a reference later in the novel? Btw, I usually only read one or two chapters ahead of what I translate) Anyways, this might be a bit of a spoiler, but the shou’s name is Hua Rong (there’s more to this, but that’s gonna be a spoiler so hahaha)
(Edit: Only up to Ch1 right now, but pretty sure that the summary of this novel is the exact epigraph written on Hua Rong’s fan – Prologue)
Translators Note
I’m a newbie translator whose Chinese is very trash >< Picking up 殿前欢’s novel this time is very challenging for my current Chinese standard, but I will be doing my best to translate according to the author’s original intention. If you guys spot any mistakes then feel free to point it out (it would be greatly appreciated), thanks :D
